Don’t judge a book by its cover

Don’t judge a book by its cover
By: Daniel luis E. Almazan
“Don’t judge a book by its cover.” You’ve heard that expression so many times. The gross-looking brown apple just may be a delicious one, or beyond that old and peeling storefront there may be gorgeous clothes. We can never know what lies beyond the exterior until we check it out.
In this week’s Torah portion, it discusses the ramifications of speaking lashonhara (evil talk). If one spoke badly about another, his very home would be covered in horrible spots. If the kohen declared the home to be impure, the house would be destroyed. All this fuss about the spots and destruction would bring the man to completely repent—and then, sometimes, something super-cool would happen after that. Once the house was destroyed, the man would find treasures that were buried under his very own home. Not only was he richly rewarded for his teshevuya(repentance) with this big treasure; he also learned a valuable lesson.
Some people seem to be negative people, just like a wall covered with spots. But we have to remember that there is always something positive and beautiful hidden inside each and every individual. The Torah is always hidden inside their soul—like the precious jewels. It is up to us to reveal those hidden treasures within others, and find the positive that lies within.
Don’t judge a house by its ugly spots; there may be treasures buried underneath. Don’t judge a man by his negative traits; find the positive traits that are buried deep inside.

  4. The club isn't the best place to find a lover
So the bar is where I go (mmmm)
Me and my friends at the table doing shots
Drinking fast and then we talk slow (mmmm)
And you come over and start up a conversation with just me
And trust me I'll give it a chance now (mmmm)
Take my hand, stop, put Van The Man on the jukebox
And then we start to dance
    And now I'm singing like

Girl, you know I want your love
Your love was handmade for somebody like me
Come on now, follow my lead
I may be crazy, don't mind me
Say, boy, let's not talk too much
Grab on my waist and put that body on me
Come on now, follow my lead
Come, come on now, follow my lead (mmmm)

I'm in love with the shape of you
We push and pull like a magnet do
Although my heart is falling too
I'm in love with your body
Last night you were in my room
And now my bedsheets smell like you
Every day discovering something brand new
I'm in love with your body

    Oh I oh I oh I oh I
I'm in love with your body
    Oh I oh I oh I oh I
I'm in love with your body
    Oh I oh I oh I oh I
I'm in love with your body
Every day discovering something brand new
I'm in love with the shape of you

One week in we let the story begin
We're going out on our first date (mmmm)
You and me are thrifty, so go all you can eat
Fill up your bag and I fill up a plate (mmmm)
We talk for hours and hours about the sweet and the sour
And how your family is doing okay (mmmm)
And leave and get in a taxi, then kiss in the backseat
Tell the driver make the radio play
    And I'm singing like

Girl, you know I want your love
Your love was handmade for somebody like me
Come on now, follow my lead
I may be crazy, don't mind me

RENE DESCARTES

Philosopher and mathematician René Descartes is regarded as the father of modern philosophy for defining a starting point for existence, “I think; therefore I am.” René Descartes was born on March 31, 1596, in La Haye en Touraine, France. He was extensively educated, first at a Jesuit college at age 8, then earning a law degree at 22, but an influential teacher set him on a course to apply mathematics and logic to understanding the natural world. This approach incorporated the contemplation of the nature of existence and of knowledge itself, hence his most famous observation, “I think; therefore I am.” Early Life Philosopher René Descartes was born on March 31, 1596, in La Haye en Touraine, a small town in central France, which has since been renamed after him to honor its most famous son. He was the youngest of three children, and his mother, Jeanne Brochard, died within his first year of life. His father, Joachim, a council member in the provincial parliament, sent...
